Can DIS also be used to play brain science? And win award?—— llongwill® DISLab helped Jinan united team win the first prize of the scientific research group in 2021 National Brain Science Competition
Original 2021-08-26 15:07From August 21 to 22, the 2021 Brain Challenge held by the Chinese Organizing Committee of Brain Bee Brain Science Competition was grandly held in Shanghai. With the strong support of Yuanda-llongwill DISLab series digital experimental equipment, the Jinan united team - "brain washing team", composed of five young talents Luan Yining (Jinan SIA Experimental Foreign Language School), Dong Chaolun (Jinan SIA Experimental Foreign Language School), Wang Runyu (Jinan Foreign Language School), Li Jiahe (Jinan New Channel Jinqiu A-level School), Yao Ruifeng (Jiangsu Jurong Country Garden School), fought out the siege all the way. Finally, they won the first prize of the scientific research group with the highest technical content with three strong teams from Shanghai.
Brain Bee Brain Science Competition originated in the United States and has a history of 21 years. Co-sponsored by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the Society of Neuroscience (SfN), the DANA Foundation and the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), it is a competition for teenagers around the world. According to its competition rules, all participating countries first conduct national trials, and the winners will represent their countries to participate in the international Brain Bee Brain Science Competition, and can be invited to attend the Annual Academic Summit held by the above-mentioned international brain science organizations.
Although there is no unified organization, the five young talents of Jinan united team participating in this competition have the same interests, unity, clear division of labor and tacit cooperation, giving full play to their advantages of good comprehensive quality, excellent foreign language and strong learning ability. After a long time of preparation, they have consulted a large number of domestic and foreign documents, and determined a research direction rarely touched by people all over the world - Exploring the reasons why particular melodies circulate in the brain and how to solve them: Earworm Effect. They independently studied and complied with scientific research norms. Based on the basic principles of brain science and neuroscience, through literature research, investigation and experimental empirical research, they gave solutions to eliminate the ear worm effect, and finally conquered the jury team composed of top brain scientists in China.
Li Jiahe is performing an experiment.
In this seemingly legendary process, Yuanda-llongwill digital experimental artifact, llongwill® DISLab, has provided them with key assistance. Li Jiahe, a member of the team, entered the Shanghai DIS R&D Center in advance, and conducted repeated experiments using llongwill® DISLab sound sensor and Sailinger mobile scientific exploration system. With clear sound waveforms, he extracted the acoustic characteristics of music that is easy to cause "earworm effect". Li Jiahe explained to Figure 1 and Figure 2 (see the following figures for details): these two figures correspond to the acoustic images of two popular songs. The blue circle marks the accompaniment waveform of the song; The black circle marks the peak waveform when the singer sings. The analysis results of acoustic images show that the music that leads to the "earworm effect" generally has the characteristics of simple tonality, continuous repetition and cheerful rhythm. The visibility of digital experiments reveals the causal relationship between music characteristics and "earworm effect", and constitutes a solid foundation for their research.

Inadvertently, llongwill® DISLab, which won the first prize of national teaching achievements twice, compiled the national science curriculum standards and textbooks, and helped countless teachers obtain various teaching honors at all levels, has become a sharp weapon for brain science research among several high school students. By virtue of their creativity, imagination and academic thinking ability, they explored the new way to use llongwill® DISLab and successfully applied it to brain science research. This unexpected migration application, on the one hand, shows the foundation of digital experiment - which can be used for basic scientific research; on the other hand, it proves its scalability - can be widely used in the measurement and analysis of various scientific research data. For this, we need to offer congratulations and thanks to them. Congratulations on their winning a heavyweight scientific research crown! This may be the brilliant starting point of their scientific research life! Thank them for their inspiration: llongwill® DISLab can do more!
